On September 9, 2026, the final stage of the review competition for the title of "The best firefighter" of the state-owned institution of the Republic of Tatarstan "Fire Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan" was completed. The competition program included a theoretical block and two practical exercises. First, the participants showed their knowledge, and then the most spectacular part. Climb the sliding stairs to the third floor of the training tower. Height, speed, and precision of each movement. There is no room for error here. The next task is to put on combat clothes and equipment. Every second counts. In a real situation, it depends on this speed whether they manage to save a life. The participants competed in three disciplines: the 10×10-meter shuttle run, the pull-up on the crossbar and the 1000-meter cross. These tests showed which of the contestants not only masterfully owns the equipment, but is also in excellent athletic shape. Without this, there is nowhere in the profession. This year, Ruslan Aleksandrovich Vyaznikov, a firefighter of a separate post for the protection of the village of Syukeyevo of the Apastovo fire service detachment, won the title of winner. Ruslan has been participating in the competition since 2018. And his path is a true growth story: in 2022 he took third place, in 2024 he rose to second, and in 2026 he finally took gold. Perseverance and hard work led to a well-deserved victory. The second place went to Vorobyov Alexei Genadyevich, a firefighter at a separate post for the protection of the village of Bolshye Polyanka of the Chistopol detachment. Dmitry V. Chernov, representing the FD-79 protection department of JSC "Ammonium" of the Naberezhnye Chelny detachment, took the third place.

Eduard Nikolaevich has been serving in the fire service since March 2012. Over 14 years of work, he has gained a reputation as a competent employee who knows how to act clearly and decisively in the most difficult conditions. Having participated in firefighting more than once, he showed self-control and the ability to quickly find the right solutions. In April 2024, he participated in strengthening the dam on the Ural River – together with rescuers of the Search and Rescue Service of the Republic of Tatarstan and local residents, a protective structure with a length of more than 1300 meters and a height of 5 meters was built. For this work, he was awarded the medal of the EMERCOM of Russia "For distinction in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations." His professional victories deserve special attention: Eduard Nikolaevich became the champion of the contest "The best commander of the department of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan "Fire protection of the Republic of Tatarstan" three times. This is a stable result of perseverance, experience and a high level of training. Did you know that many modern fire safety regulations are rooted in the past? In 1493, Moscow burned down almost to the ground twice. The wooden buildings were so dense that the fire spread from roof to roof in a matter of minutes. After these tragedies, Prince Ivan III ordered the clearing of a nearly 240-meter-wide strip near the Kremlin and the prohibition of any construction there. This is how the first fire gap appeared – it became the prototype of those standards that are still in force today. And in 1504, the first official prohibitions appeared: it was forbidden to heat baths and furnaces in summer unless absolutely necessary, and artisans were forbidden to equip furnaces and smelters close to their homes. Violations were punished. And at the same time, a system of patrols was introduced: outposts with guards on duty were set up at the ends of the streets in order to notice the smoke as early as possible. After the Great Fire of 1547, Ivan the Terrible went even further: he ordered barrels of water and wet brooms on poles to be kept in every yard – they knocked down sparks so that the fire would not spread further. In fact, it was the first "fire corner" in history: simple, accessible and understandable to everyone. Every rule of those years appeared not out of abstract considerations, but as a direct response to a real disaster. And the main conclusion that was drawn centuries ago remains just as important today: it is much easier to prevent a fire than to deal with its consequences.
